Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced on the 8th that it had captured a U.S. unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz. The Pentagon stated that the vessel was an older model that had malfunctioned more than a day earlier.
According to Reuters, Iranian state media identified the vessel as the Dive-LD, a large autonomous underwater vehicle manufactured by Anduril, a defense company based in California. In a statement, the Revolutionary Guard Navy said: “We have captured one of the most modern, intelligent, and unmanned submarines belonging to the terrorist U.S. military at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz. This submersible is equipped with state-of-the-art technology.”
